Tom McDonough Named Vice President of Operations and Jacco van der Kooij
Named Vice President of Worldwide Sales
PARIS, France and BURBANK, California – April 7, 2008 – Thomson (Euronext 18453; NYSE: TMS), through its Technicolor Services Division, today announced two key appointments to facilitate the global growth of its Electronic Distribution Services (EDS) business. It announced that Tom McDonough will be appointed vice president of operations, and Jacco van der Kooij will be appointed vice president of worldwide sales.
“Tom has implemented business and IT solutions for more than 50 Fortune 500 clients, and Jacco has a 15-year record of success in sales – both in the U.S. and abroad,” said Scott Dougall, senior vice president and general manager of Technicolor’s EDS business. “Their expertise level will be invaluable in helping Technicolor EDS to expand its business worldwide.”
Founded in 2007, Technicolor EDS (www.technicolor.com/eds) addresses the growing need for digital content distribution services in the media and entertainment industries. Its business model is unique, and unlike other outsourced content delivery networks that only distribute content, Technicolor EDS offers clients a comprehensive suite of end-to-end or a la carte services – from content preparation and digital rights management to global distribution and reporting. Technicolor EDS also provides a host of online services to help bring new and innovative Internet-based connectivity functions for digital copy DVDs and emerging interactive features for Blu-ray discs.
Tom McDonough, Vice President of Operations
In his new position, McDonough leads the Technicolor EDS operations team, overseeing all content processing, network engineering and customer service activities. During his career, McDonough led several operations teams in the areas of customer service, sales operations, supply chain management, procurement, manufacturing and order management.
Most recently, McDonough was an operations management consultant with Pattiglio, Rabin, Todd & McGrath (PRTM), where he developed operations strategies for leading technology companies. Previously, McDonough spent eight years with the Teradata division of NCR Corporation, developing supply chain and information management solutions for high tech, consumer goods and retail customers. He began his career as a production engineer with Hewlett-Packard Corporation.
McDonough holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University.
Jacco van der Kooij, Vice President of Worldwide Sales
Jacco joins Thomson as vice president of worldwide sales where he is responsible for driving new business opportunities for the group as well as building and managing the Technicolor EDS sales team.
Throughout his career, van der Kooij has held a number of sales positions where he was responsible for marketing technology services that enable media and entertainment clients to distribute video content securely across one or more platforms. Prior to joining Thomson, he served as the media and entertainment sales executive at VeriSign, Inc. He also worked as senior director of sales for SkyStream, which lead to the acquisition by TANDBERG Television in 2006 where he managed sales for the content distribution market. Early on in his career, van der Kooij spent five years at the world renowned Philips Television Laboratories.
van der Kooij holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications and Business Management from Avans Hogeschool in Hertogenbosch, Netherlands.
