RAM Caching Based Architecture
Traditional CDNs have limited customer dedicated RAM caching. Technicolor's solution is a unique architecture encompassing a 256GB RAM cache per POP which is easily and cost efficiently upgraded in 64GB increments. This means we consistently deliver 24+ Gbps of throughput for any object or combination of objects regardless of user concurrency levels / traffic patterns or object sizes.
Multi-Origin Object Replication
Traditional CDNs “pull” objects not stored locally from more distant POPs. Technicolor stores and replicates all videos in all POPs within a given territory which means files are delivered at full capacity of a user’s broadband connection vs. limited TCP bandwidth product (6+Mbps vs. 1.5Mbps typical). This eliminates bottlenecks of cache based networks where users must wait as the complete object is copied between long distances. Technicolor's multi-origin object replication enables a consistent user experience regardless of the content’s popularity and enables faster progressive playback times by sustaining higher throughputs at the beginning of the download.
Advanced Security Layer
Traditional CDNs have insufficient security systems for high value content / IP. Thomson is a recognized leader in motion picture and content security. Engineered in conjunction with Thomson’s global security team, Technicolor's CDN security includes:
- Intrusion detection and prevention systems
- Single-use URLs and transactions
- Encrypted File System
- Firewalls and access control systems control network and physical access
Traffic into and out of the network is continuously monitored and proactively disables access in the event of suspiscious activity. Our integrated solutions ensure security accountability from pre-production through delivery.
Rapid and Flexible Content Ingest
Traditional CDNs do not offer integrated global ingest or controlled object origination. Rapid ingest of content in multiple geographic regions is made possible by leveraging Technicolor’s worldwide ingest facilities and integrated satellite acquisition. TCP Acceleration
